Thank-you for purchasing a
juraf.

Please read these usage hints in order that you obtain the
maximum enjoyment of the
juraf’s
unique features in the shortest possible time.
The
juraf
is intended to be mounted vertically on a surface to take
advantage of the unique swing away design feature that
allows you to swing the
juraf
away from you when you are finished reading. Before
mounting the
juraf,
pre-bend it with two hands to the approximate shape you
would like. Please do not attempt to bend the
juraf
on a curve smaller than the outside of a computer or music
CD. Repeatedly doing so will result in a broken neck.
The clamps are designed to be small and unobtrusive,
allowing you to mount the
juraf
to the edge of a table in close quarters beside your bed OR
it can be mounted on any bed using an old thin hard cover
book for ‘Under Mattress Mounting’ depicted below (preferred
mounting method of the inventor). Excess threaded rod can
be removed by bending it back and forth a few times near the
plastic nut as shown.
Once the
juraf
is mounted to a surface, you can fine tune its bend. You
should be able to make a bend that allows you to switch from
reading on your back to your side with just a simple swing
adjustment and not a re-bend. It may take a couple of
nights of reading to optimize the bend in your
juraf.
We have found that the optimum position for the
juraf’s
head is slightly off to the side of your eye/book path and
between your eye and book. Also, the head should point
slightly to your side of the bed so your partner does not
even see any white light shining directly from the LED. Your
juraf
will be most appreciated when reading in bed with other
lights out, these are the lighting conditions it was
designed for. Here are a couple pictures of a
juraf
bent as described above:
